smoke signals Our Third Annual Science Expo was held at and in collaboration with Historic Speedwell in Morristown, NJ and was sponsered by Bayer Consumer Care division. The theme was "From Drums to Cell Phones: Communication Technology, Past, Present and Future". There were about 125 people who spent the day learning about the many different ways that we communicate. The children were able to actually send smoke signals, make their own string and cup telephones, run the relay express, invent a secret code, learn sign language, send a message by satellite and many oter fun, educational hands on activities.

Children also enjoyed presentations by educators such as Mad Science of New Jersey and Earth Ways. A drumming demonstration showed how drums were used to communicate in the past. A representative from Lake Drive School of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children displayed some facinating technology for the hearing impaired.
