Opportunities
for Giving
All gifts to the Community
Children’s Museum are tax deductible according to
law. Please consult your personal tax advisor regarding
your particular situation. Thank you for your generosity.
Pledge: A
pledge to The Museum is payable over a three-year period
or longer. Pledges enable a donor to contribute a larger
gift than may be possible in a single tax year. (Please
see Pledge Payment Schedule.)
Securities: This
gift vehicle can be particularly beneficial to a donor
who may have appreciated securities. You will receive
the full value of the securities as the gift value and
pay no capital gains tax. Gifts of security are possible
by placing the securities with a broker, bank, or agent
to be held for the Community Children’s Museum.
Notify the Museum’s Executive Director of your gift
intention, so that the securities can be transferred to
the correct account. This is usually an electronic transfer
done by the donor’s broker. Unendorsed stock certificates
may also be contributed. For tax purposes, please be advised
that the gift is deemed completed on the date of the stock
transfer or the postmark date of the mailed stock certificates.
Matching Gifts:
Many corporations will match or give a percentage of an
employee’s donation. All donors should ask their
employer about the availability of matching funds.
Planned Gifts:
Planned gifts represent a special type of support that
benefits you, the donor, and the Community Children’s
Museum. Often a planned gift allows you to maximize your
contributions and provides you with specific income and
estate tax advantages. Planned gifts may also provide
you with income during your lifetime. The Museum’s
Executive Director can provide you with information and
assistance if you are considering a planned gift.
Life Insurance:
The Community Children’s Museum may be named as
the principal beneficiary of an insurance policy, or ownership
of the policy may be transferred to the Museum as your
gift.
Bequests: A
bequest in a will is another means of contributing to
the Community Children’s Museum. An individual may
give any type of asset, including personal property. Pecuniary
bequests meet the needs of many donors because they provide
the Community Children’s Museum with a percentage
of the estate that remains after payments are made to
all other heirs.
