| Downing Hospital Pediatric Art Program
The Downing Hospital Pediatric Art Program, run by the Community Children’s Museum, and generously funded by Francie and John Downing, provides a process-oriented approach to visual art for hospitalized children.
Currently this program works with the Child Life teams and pediatric nurses at three area hospitals:
- Morristown Memorial Hospital (MMH)
- St. Barnabas
- St. Clare’s.
The main goal of the program is to offer open-ended art experiences which are tailored to meet the needs of both the patients and the specific hospital environment. At MMH, the creative art program has evolved into a weekly digital art experience for elementary, middle school and high school age patients. At St Barnabas and St Clare’s, the program reaches the younger elementary and pre-school pediatric patients through self-contained art kits, distributed monthly.
